| Two weeks. That’s how close they came to missing each other. Two weeks before Kimberly left New York to continue her education in Boston. Two weeks for Tony to drive to Ithaca and meet his future wife. Two weeks for Kimberly to spend time with her future husband.
Kimberly had heard about Tony from a mutual friend – when she heard him described she said, “he sounds really great! Is he single?” Kimberly called him up – they had a great conversation – and they arranged to meet the following Sunday at Taughannock Park in Ithaca, NY. Tony said he would bring his orange hat so she would know it was him.

Sunday, May 19, 2002, arrives, bright and shiny, and Tony sets out to meet her. Only, it turns out that he did not choose the best route. 2 O’clock comes around and he’s still driving. If only he had Kimberly’s cell phone number.
Meanwhile, Kimberly is at the park, trying to figure out if any of the men standing around are the one she’s waiting for. She has – uncomfortably – drawn a lot of attention to herself. Fifteen minutes pass and she calls him. “Where are you?”
Finally, Tony drives through the gate. As he heads to a parking space, he sees a beautiful woman nearby looking at him through his car window. When their eyes meet, he sees that she’s wearing the warmest smile he’s ever seen. He grabs his orange hat as he leaves the car, just to be sure she’ll recognize him.
He didn’t need the hat.

When Kimberly first saw Tony she felt overjoyed and excited – and at the same time it felt like she was meeting an old-friend. Both Kimberly and Tony were instantly at ease with each other and were also really excited to learn more about each other.
One thing was certain from that first date – Tony and Kimberly loved being together! An afternoon date turned into a full day event followed by many more dates until Kimberly left for Boston.
Unfortunately, or fortunately for Kimberly and Tony, Kimberly’s opportunity in Boston didn’t meet her expectations and so she left Boston and moved in with Tony in Binghamton, NY.
They have been enjoying building a life together ever since. Now they live in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, with their cats, Alex and Ricky, in their first house. They are thrilled to be in the Boston area and also closer to the Berkshires. Although they have been together for four years, close friends still say that Tony and Kimberly are “like two love birds” and “they glow when they are together.” Tony and Kimberly love to be together, to laugh, to try new things/explore new places, to spend time with friends and family, and to plan for their future together. |

Kimberly and Tony had been together for over three years, and Kimberly was waiting for a proposal. They knew their love was true, and that they were meant for each other, but each romantic holiday of the previous year had come and gone with no proposal. When Tony took her out for her birthday, she was sure it would happen that night, but it didn’t!
A week later, Kimberly was house and dog-sitting for close friends in the Berkshires, and Tony came to join her for the weekend. He knew how much she loves animals, so he told her about this nearby farm where they had lots of animals for petting. Saturday, August 6, 2005, was a bright, happy day and they set out for Green River Farms in Williamstown. They had a wonderful time there, visiting with the baby turtles, the fuzzy llamas, the graceful horses, and peeping little chicks and their crotchety old rooster. There was a kitten who climbed several feet up the chicken wire using his tiny claws just to be nearer to Kimberly. |

After visiting the animals, they walked over to the farm store and bought some fresh-carved deli sandwiches and some sparkling lemonade. Kimberly and Tony sat on a nice picnic bench to enjoy their meal.
Tony suggested that they visit with the animals once more before heading out, and they saw the incredible climbing kitten again, and Kimberly spoke to the little chicks.
As they’re almost leaving, Tony asks Kimberly to sit with him at a nearby bench, and she can see that he’s nervous, and he seems upset. He looks her in the eyes and says “I need to tell you something.” He tells her how lucky he feels that they met so many years ago. He tells her how the past three years have been the best years of his life. He tells her how wonderful she is, how sweet and smart and beautiful she is. Then he reaches into his pocket.
Kimberly was confused and concerned when Tony appeared nervous and upset. But when Tony reached for his pocket – she gasped and then went into shock! She may have stopped breathing a little bit.
He opens the box and says “Kimberly Anne Macey, will you marry me?” Kimberly was stunned and speechless. A few minutes later he says “Well? What’s your answer?” She recovers herself enough to say “Of course! Yes, I’ll marry you!"
Tony and Kimberly celebrated their engagement with the friends Kimberly was house-sitting for when they returned from their trip the next day. They went to Bizen restaurant and sat next to Kevin Bacon! They also celebrated at Elephant Walk – Kimberly’s favorite restaurant in Boston.
Kimberly and Tony have enjoyed the past year as an engaged couple. They are really looking forward to their wedding – to exchanging vows and to celebrating and dancing with all of their loved ones. |
